Leadership by Tyler Brasse Leadership by Tyler Brasse

This year our school is adding more great elective choices than ever.  One of my personal favorites is Leadership.

In Leadership we are basically the public relations (PR).  We make the newsletter and are in the process of making locker decorations for our elective classes, activities, and athletes.  We also make lists of the electives and athletics.  We write for the school website.  We take pictures and send letters to local churches and businesses.  We are led by our teacher Mr. Crouch.

National History Day State Winner National History Day State Winner

National History Day is a national social studies competition focused on a theme in history using primary and secondary resources. This year the theme was “Leadership and Legacy in History.” Cy chose to research the leadership and legacy that Billy Graham has had history. Cy traveled to Graham’s hometown where he toured the life of Graham. He interviewed the president of Graham’s library, who is a close personal friend of his. Cy competed on the state level where he won first place and the chance to compete nationally at the University of Maryland. Through Cy’s hard work and passion for learning, he has excelled at a competition that promotes looking at history in a unique and different way.

Golden Horseshoe Winner Trevor Harrell Golden Horseshoe Winner Trevor Harrell
Trevor set a goal back in the fall, with the encouragement of Mrs. Gill, who saw his potential.  Trevor being a student/athlete, found the time before and after games to study.  He also spent many snow days studying WV History.  The last few weeks before the Exam his father and mother spent between 1.5 to 3 hours (depending on how much homework he had) an evening quizzing him. Congratulations Trevor.
