Welcome to the Student Support Team Page!

The NRI Student Support Team is a team of professionals to provide help and support to your student(s) and family in a variety of ways. These services include: food , clothing, or housing support, short-term individual or small group counseling, academic support such as tutoring, crisis support, daily check-ins, and more. If your child is coming to school after a difficult night, morning or weekend, please contact one of us with the message “Handle with Care”. Nothing else needs to be said or asked. If you would like the NRI Student Support Team to help your student(s) or family in anyway, please click the link and complete the attached form or contact a member by email or phone.

New River Intermediate School Counseling Program Mission and Vision Statements:

Mission:   

The mission for New River Intermediate School Counseling Program is to maximize the potential of future success for all students, helping them to become responsible members of a changing society by promoting their academic, career, and personal/social development. The majority of the school counselor’s time is spent in direct services to students, imparting specific skills and learning opportunities in a proactive manner. School counselors will collaborate with the full education team, advocate to improving student learning, and lead efforts for systemic change. It should be noted that the New River Intermediate School Counseling Program is based on the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) National Model, which is a basis for all school counseling programs in order to have a positive impact on all areas of student development and education. This statement is based on the New River Intermediate School Mission Statement.

Vision:

The vision for the school counselors at New River Intermediate School is that all students will acquire the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to reach their fullest potential and successfully manage their lives as healthy, responsible, competent and productive citizens who respect themselves and others. The school counselors will use the knowledge, skills, linkages and resources they possess to support student success in all environments. This should be done by collaborating with families, staff, and community members.   It should be noted that the New River Intermediate School Counseling Program Vision Statement is based on the New River Intermediate School Vision Statement and the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) Vision.
