Congratulations to High School Regional Math Field Day winner Team Fayette! Team Fayette was the first place team in Region 4 and MTHS Sam Keeney placed first in the region and OHHS Sophie Allen placed second in the region. Sophie was also high scoring Sophomore in Region 4. Sam and Sophie advance to State Math Field Day April 20 at Concord University. The rest of Team Fayette are: Genna Whitney OHHS, Bonnie Ray OHHS, Wyatt Oxley OHHS, Jarrod Curl OHHS, Ben Keeney MTHS, Kelsie Carte MTHS, Jackson Pino OHHS, Dana Cottle OHHS. The counties which are included in Region 4 are: Braxton, Fayette, Greenbrier, Nicholas, Pocahontas and Webster. We are incredibly proud of these students!

New River Primary would like to congratulate Arthur Wolff, a 2nd grader in Mrs. Angelona’s class for winning 1st place in the Young Writer’s Contest for Fayette County for grades 1-2. This is the second year in a row that New River Primary has had a 1st place winner!

Mr Li and Mr Adkins the two other counselors at OHHS work diligently every day to help our high school students and their parents navigate schedules, SAT scores and find great jobs!! We love our team at OHHS show them some love!!

Engaging Phonological Awareness Activities
Below are some fun, engaging activities for families with students in grades K-2.
Say or listen to nursery rhymes. Point out words that rhyme.
Play "I Spy" using the prompt "I spy something that starts with the sound..."
Play hopscotch. Have children say a sentence and hop one time for each word.
Make up silly sentences that include words with the same beginning sound.
At dinner, have children name the food items on their plate and use silverware to tap the number of syllables.
Here are two lovelies at Midland Trail High. Ms Persinger and Ms Burton are so fabulous. They are a dynamic duo. They help middle school kids during those trying teen times and then move on to those high school years where they help our young adults become actual adults. We love the Trail counselors.
