New River Primary Celebrated the critical first 30 days of school by fulfilling a promise made during the open house, when it was stressed that good attendance is crucial to student achievement. Those students who established routines of attending school and not being tardy were recognized.  On Friday, Oct. 6, 69 students and 16 educators were recognized as being a Big Dill!  They received a Big Dill certificate. New River Intermediate, along with many other schools throughout the county celebrated an absolutely fantastic and thrilling event today the first: West Virginia Wednesday of Farm to School month 2023!  The pictured tray from New River Intermediate shows some delicious local chicken from Rainbow Farms and Pyne Mountain Farms. And that's not all! They also dished out some delectable green beans from Owl Mountain Farms and High Rocks Ruby Grow farm, along with scratch-made rolls from talented local cooks. To add some freshness to the meal, a delightful salad was also served. But wait, there's more! This meal is just the beginning of the incredible Farm to School Month celebrations. This month is important because it provides a chance for valuable education about local food, showcases the quality and pride that goes into each meal, and even has a positive impact on our environment and local community. So, get excited and join in on the fun as we embark on this amazing culinary adventure together!

Mrs. Elder’s 1st grade class won the first “No Tardy Tater” incentive for the 2023-2024 school year. At the beginning of the year, each classroom received a Mr. Potato Head. Every day that the present students are in class ON TIME, they get to add a piece to their Mr. Potato Head. The class that gets all of the pieces added first wins a certificate to hang outside their classroom and a special treat. This is a friendly completion to encourage students to be present and on time!
