OHHS senior Evan Martin has been named the first-ever WVU Tech Golden Scholar, a prestigious honor that will be awarded to just 13 students - one from each southern West Virginia county - each year.
As the Golden Scholar selected from Fayette County, Evan will receive a full-ride scholarship to WVU Tech for four years, covering tuition, room and board, meals, and books while he pursues his bachelor’s degree. He currently plans to major in Construction Management.
Evan was selected based on his exemplary academic record, outstanding extracurricular involvement, and exceptional strength of character. Ask anyone who knows Evan, and they’ll tell you he is kind, mature, responsible, bright, funny, and exceptionally personable — an undeniably deserving recipient of this honor.
Speaking about the scholarship, Evan said, “I am very grateful for this opportunity, and very thankful to OHHS for preparing me for this.”

Carson Nicolau is the son of Vince and Hilary Nicolau and brother to Ava and Evan. He also wants to give a special shoutout to his Friday morning before-school Tudor’s crew — the T Group. They know who they are!
Outside of school, Carson works as a tour guide at Bridge Walk and enjoys golfing, going to the gym, restoring engines, and spending time with his friends.
Carson is a member of the National Honor Society and is a Promise Scholar. After graduation, he is considering pursuing a degree in Nursing.
As he looks back on his time at OHHS, Carson is especially grateful for the teachers who have supported him along the way, particularly Miss Kirk and Mr. Adams, who have been there for him throughout high school.

Today, Oak Hill High School was proud to host a College Fair for students from Oak Hill High School, Meadow Bridge Regional School, and Midland Trail High School!
We are so grateful to all of the colleges and universities who joined us — from schools right here in West Virginia to representatives traveling from Virginia and North Carolina — as well as members of our United States military who came to speak with students about the many paths available after graduation.
Whether our students are considering a four-year university, a two-year program, career and technical opportunities, military service, or simply trying to figure out what their next step might look like, events like today give them the chance to ask questions, make connections, and explore their options firsthand.

Homecoming Week is almost here, and we’d love to see our community get in on the fun!
We’re inviting local businesses to decorate their storefronts in Oak Hill High School colors and Red Devil spirit to help us make Homecoming Week feel extra special for our students.
And there’s a little something in it for our students, too! 👀 During Homecoming Week, students will have the chance to find participating businesses, snap photos of the decorations, and earn Homecoming spirit points for their class. We’ll collect their photos and share some of that community-wide Red Devil spirit right here on our page next week!
Businesses who would like to participate should have their storefronts decorated and ready to go by Friday, September 18 — GAME DAY! 🏈
Whether you go big with balloons, window paint and signs or keep it simple with some red and black ribbon, we’d love to see Oak Hill covered in school spirit.

We can think of no lovelier young lady than the incredible🌟Emma Willard🌟 to kick off this year's #WonderfulWednesday Senior Spotlights!
Emma Willard is the daughter of Jack and Shay Whitt and Bryan and Allie Willard. She is the sister of Abram Whitt, Aaden Whitt, and David Willard, and is especially grateful for the love and support of her grandparents, Nana and Keith. Emma’s family also includes four dogs — Biggie, Smalls, Stormy, and Nugget — and her cat, Socks.
Emma has been running cross country and track since sixth grade and is a member of the National Honor Society. Outside of school and athletics, she has worked as a lifeguard and at the Frozen Barn and currently works as a server at Cracker Barrel.
In her free time, Emma loves building Legos, doing her nails, hiking, swimming, and anything involving bows or the color pink. She is also a big fan of Harry Potter, The Hunger Games, and Wicked.
After graduation, Emma plans to attend BridgeValley Community and Technical College to pursue a career as a dental hygienist.

Here's what's new:
● You'll receive a text when your child is absent. A message will come from 1-304-884-0174— save this number in your contacts so you never miss it.
● You can text back directly. Reply to confirm an absence, share the reason, or ask a question. It's that simple.
● You can send photos of notes by text. Need to submit a parent note or a doctor's note? Just take a photo and text it to the same number — no need to drop anything off at the office.
● You can proactively text us. Know that your child will be absent? Send us a text to 1-304-884-0174 Phone Number and we’ll update the record accordingly.
The texts are powered by our AI attendance assistant, and every response goes directly to our attendance team and your child's record is updated accordingly.
